Berry Pickin'

I am a homebody, like in the worst way! I love love being in the comfort of my own home, in my own little bubble. Most women love to go out & shop, I'm good with online shopping. Most dates consist of going out to dinner, drinks & a movie. I'm happy ordering in, curling up on the couch & watching a movie in my jammies. I've always been that way, not much of a lover of vacations or get always. Just love my home! It has everything I need, I can wear whatever I want & be comfortable, it's like it's my bubble, my safe zone. It's very fitting that I ended up marrying my neighbor huh? Didn't even have to leave my own home! Haha! Since I met Blake I've gotten MUCH better. But, I still am just a homebody at heart. With that being said, my goal when I had Mason was to get out and experience all the fun things that we can with him. Up first on our list: Berry Picking.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for our 7am feeding. After Mason ate we all got dressed, ate a quick breakfast & headed out the door. Because it's been so hot lately we wanted to get there as early as possible. As we drove there I commented to Blake how when we left the house it felt like it was 9:30 not 7:30. It was miraculous to me that we were all out the door with so much energy so early in the morning, pre-Mason his momma could sleep in until 10. Well....2 of us had a lot of energy.

We brought both his stroller and the Tula carrier with us. I really wanted to use the Tula but he doesn't seem to love it as much as I do. I think he may still be a little small for it. I probably should have bit the bullet and bought the newborn insert but I keep telling myself that any day he will be fitting into it fine. We took him out and put him in the carrier and he stayed asleep. Success!!!

The berry picking field had a special where if you pick 3 buckets they keep 2 and you get 1 for free. What a great deal! We decided we would go pick 3 baskets and leave out scott free. About 5-10 minutes in we had only picked this many and realized 3 buckets may be a little adventurous for the 2 of us.

We walked the aisles picking berries and chatting while Mason slept in his Tula for about an hour. It was so nice and relaxing. We only filled up 1 bucket so no free berries for us. But the memories and quality time together were definitely worth it!

And just what does one do with 3.5 pounds of blueberries you might ask? Well you make a blueberry cake with lemon icing.
