Dear Mason: 2 month edition

Mason,
My dear sweet baby boy you are 2 months old today. While I cant believe I'm the mother of a 2 month old, I don't remember life without you!
You are growing so fast! You weigh 12.2oz (43rd percentile) are 22.75 inches long (34th percentile) & your head is 40cm (75th percentile). I think it's safe to say you're a big boy!
You are currently eating between 3-6 ounces at each feeding, it depends on your mood. This past week you transitioned from eating every 2-3 hours during the day to eating every 4. You will sometimes take a bottle but you prefer not to. We are making you take at least 1 a day. People have said for me to not be around when we bottle feed you but we have found you prefer it if I'm around or the one feeding you. We have found you don't mind noise & us talking if you're nursing but can't stand us talking while you're taking a bottle.
It took us a while to figure out mom's diet to make your tummy happy. It's been a lot of trial & error. You have very bad acid reflux so you're taking some baby Zantac, however even on the medicine mom still has to avoid coffee, spicy foods & products with tomato in it. You also are allergic to milk, soy & whey protein so mom has had to stop eating those foods. While I could take this as a frustration, I'm looking to the good things. My diet is full of healthy & clean foods that I know are the best for you!
You have slept through the night 1 time & while we loved it we didn't sleep through the night because we checked on you like every 45 minutes from 3am on. On a typical night you have a bath, nurse & go to sleep between 9-9:30. You sometimes wake up a few times right after going down and want to be rocked. I know people say let them cry it out but right now we are relishing the quiet moments rocking our baby. You then wake up for a dream feeding between 2:30-3:30. Mama feeds you & daddy rocks you to sleep. Then you're up ready to start your day between 6-7. You clearly get this from dad because mom is having to adapt to this early morning thing.
You are most definitely a mama's boy!! You absolutely love to lay on my chest & will kick your legs up until you are nestled as tight as you can in my neck & fall right to sleep. It's my very favorite thing! For a while mom was the only one who could comfort you but you've strarted taking a liking to dad comforting you too now.
You are developing your own little personality. You are such a happy baby! You love to smile & laugh! It's so fun to see you actually doing it at us now. While you're very happy, you can go from laughing to incredibly ticked off at the flip of a switch! You've recently discovered your ability to screech & if you aren't happy when we put you somewhere you'll let us know with an ear piercing screech. You are quite the talker too! You are always babbling, you even do so in your sleep. When you're very tired you will babble & whine until you fall into a deep sleep.
You still LOVE being outside!! You especially love it now that dad built us a swing! You also love playing on your piano play mat. You laugh & smile the most on it. You love watching yourself in its mirror. You love taking baths. Any time you're fussy we can put you in the bath & you're instantly happy. There are lots of mirrors in the bathroom & you love looking at yourself when you're taking a bath. You love working out with mama. Any time I push play you wake right up & come sit in your swing & smile & laugh the whole time. At first it was hard & a little frustrating to keep pushing play. But I've decided to look at the positives of you seeing your Mama being healthy every day.
Some fun things from month 2:
*Pawpaw Richard came for a visit
*You had your first church trip & loved it!
*You visited both Mommy & Daddy's work
*You started smiling & laughing
*You rolled over twice from tummy to back
* Aunt Amy, Aunt Lisa & Gammy have watched you
*We had our first Mother's Day
*You discovered your thumb (we are trying to divert you to the paci & discourage the thumb)
*You experienced your first tornado sirens & slept through it like a champ
*You slept through the night
*You had your first long car trip to Mommy's hometown of Pryor

We love you more than you know, Mason Porter! I love watching the personality you're developing! You are the perfect fit for our little family. I thank God every day for you & pray that he gives me the wisdom & knowledge I need to guide you & help you become a strong, wise & Godly man.
Love,
Mommy
