Dear Liam: 10 months

Liam Hayes,
My littlest love, how are you already 10 whole months?! I cannot believe the planning of your 1st birthday is already underway! It feels like these last 10 months have just flown by too ridiculously fast!

You are weighing in at 21 pounds even (63rd percentile) and standing 29 inches tall (55th percentile). You are still in size 3 diapers. You are wearing a combination for pajamas right now. Lets just say pajamas are your go to outfit because they are so much easier to get you changed in. You are a wild animal when it comes to changing your diaper or getting you dressed! I've never seen a back roll, flip and headstand the way you do when you need to be changed. So in fleece pajamas you are in 12 months. We are also wearing some cotton pajamas and you are in some 12 months, however the 18 months that I bought for Mason seem to be a different size than the 18 months that I bought for you. So you're in 18 months from brother and 12 months for you. Very confusing! Onesies are a mix of 9 and 12 months & pants are 9 months.

We've had great success with decreasing your prevacid this month!! You were taking 3ml in the morning and 3ml at night. You're currently down to 1.5ml in the morning and 2ml at night. We have just been decreasing every 5 days by .5ml alternating from morning and night. You don't seem unsettled by reflux the only symptom I've noticed is your hiccups are coming back. But you don't seem bothered by them.

We are still rolling with Mama's milk! You are still preferring to nurse rather to drinking bottles. The last 6 times I have taken you somewhere and left a bottle with you I have ended up dumping the entire 6 ounces out. You will take a bottle from ME in the morning after I have pumped but really just prefer to nurse. I actually really enjoy the bond from you and you are able to communicate more when you are hungry or want to nurse. You will come over and pull on the straps of my shirt as to tell me I'm hungry Mama! If I don't catch that cue then you just face plant into me until I feed you. You & I are still able to feed other babies too. I love being able to do this! Yesterday we made a large donation to a friend totaling 3,005 ounces. I notice I produce more when you are nursing so good job for helping to feed those babies little love!

You are still on a pretty good schedule. It hasn't changed from last month actually. There are occasional days when you're able to have longer wakeful windows, some when your wakeful windows are shorter, some when your naps are longer or shorter & some when you need that 3rd nap to get you to bedtime. But for the most part your schedule is pretty much the same.

You still have 2 little bottom teeth. I thought for sure you would have at least 1 more top tooth by this month but it hasn't made it's way yet. I know that you are close because you've been a little more unsettled the past 2 weeks. You've had a little bit harder time sleeping in the early morning hours & you are chewing on absolutely everything.

You are still a FOOD LOVER! Seriously everything *almost* we put in front of you you love! The only things you don't care for a carrots & green beans. You don't really love the iron fortified oatmeal either. But we didn't give it to brother and he ended up anemic so we are just powering through the best we can with this. This month you have really taken a liking to the baby food pouches. This can be really easy in a pinch and I like that it's a simple way to get in different fruits and veggies. You absolutely do not like for us to feed you. You want to do it on your own. If you're eating yogurt or cereal you want the preloaded spoon to do it alone. Your favorites haven't changed a ton. Truly you are happy eating whatever is placed in front of you or you can beg, borrow or steal from brother. You aren't supposed to have cow's milk yet but there have been several occasions where you get brother's milk cup and by the time I have noticed you have it turned up and are chugging it with milk rolling down your cheeks. It's safe to say when the time comes I don't think I will have any trouble with that transition.

This month you've started standing alone! At first it would just be accidental and when you noticed you were standing you would panic and sit back down immediately. You've become more and more confident with this as time has gone on. Just this morning I looked over and watching you stand up on your own on purpose! You're also trying to climb on everything! Stepstools, chairs, everything! You're still not confident in the walking, although you want to so bad. You will zip all over that house with your push behind toy. Your face lights up any time you spy it and you crawl over faster than I've ever seen you crawl. You've figured out how to push it forwards, backwards, turn it around & mow over everything in your sight. If something doesn't move you just keep plowing forward until either it moves or you do a front flip over the object. You will walk if we are holding your hands but you cannot be convinced to walk to or from us. I'm thinking it's coming soon but I know it will come sooner than I'm ready for.

You still love being outside but it's been such a cold & wet month! If it is warm enough to go outside its normally too wet which proves very tricky with your inability to walk. I'm hoping it's starting to warm up and we can spend more time outside.

You still haven't really said much in the word department. You definitely know the word Mama. When you're frustrated or when you wake up you yell MAMA!!!! You also really love blowing raspberries. You've also started trying to clap. You will take one hand and slap your chest for a clap. We love it & it lights up your face!

This month you've really started taking to cars. You've discovered how to drive them around the play room. Your favorite toys are: jingle bells, cars, tractors, your pushing toy & whatever Mason has. You also go your 1st try of coffee. You whine for my mug every day. I drink it black so I was sure you would hate it but you are IN. LOVE. we can no longer drink coffee around you without you throwing a royal fit!

Your separation anxiety has really seemed to pick up this month. When you realize that I'm leaving you you really get upset. However, if you don't realize that I'm leaving you're perfectly content around other people. You do better if Daddy leaves you than I do. We have recently found a sitter that comes once a week, Miss Megan. You & Mason have really taken to her. You don't have any separation anxiety with her, rather you crawl up to her and climb up her legs when you see her just like you do Daddy & I. I know this is a phase so we will continue to just love you & power through.

You absolutely love to be held, more than Mason. But when you don't like is to be held down or made to stay in one spot. Hence the wonderful things that are your 10 month pictures. If you're made to sit in one spot or lay down you are beyond ticked off about it. It use to give me anxiety or stress if I didn't have that precious smiley face but I'm learning to accept it and capture then memory of what life is really like.

You and Mason are in full brothers mode at the moment. You want whatever Mason has more than you ever have & you are determined to get it. When you finally get it you think it is hysterical how angry brother gets and go right back after what he has. Your favorite thing to take is his night night and he will push shove and wrestle you to the ground to get it back from you. This has resulted in a few scuffles. You've been smacked in the head with a truck and a fire truck, had water thrown on your head and pushed into a bin over a granola bar, but you've lived to tell about it & I have a feeling this is only the beginning. Mason really does love you to pieces though! The other day I was cooking in the kitchen and I heard Mason say "MUUUAAAHHH" and I looked over and he was hugging you and kissing your head. He likes to do these things when nobody is watching. If I catch him or point it out he is very shy about it. You boys love to be around each other and if one of you is sleeping the other is searching high and low for their best friend.

You after brother threw a cup of water at you :|

You're a pretty good mix of a Mama & Daddy's boy. You seem to go back and forth. For the most part if we are both home you want Mama. However, when Daddy comes home for lunch or at the end of the day you want your Daddy & you won't settle for anything else until he comes and picks you up.

We love you so much little Liam! I say it every month but truly our love for you just continues to grow! Every night when we put you to bed I want to go scoop you up & snuggle you forever! You fill my heart with so much joy, happiness and love. You are determined, confident, loving, snuggly & have the happiest smile I've ever seen in my life. I love you forever & always my little Liam!

Love,
Mama
